We believe nutrition is of paramount importance in our dog's health, fittness and longevity. To reach their full potential, a dog requires a balanced diet to meet their biological needs. We maintain our adult dogs on Orijen grain free kibble, fresh raw chicken, venison, goat, rabbit, pork and beef. Our puppies are also raised on Orijen kibble and fresh meat to give them an optimum start to life. We request that new owners continue with a high a quality kibble and fresh meat as befits the canine nature of your new puppy. It is for the life long benefit of your new family member.
The vast majority of commercial dog foods contain multiple grains, fillers and preservatives which do nothing to benefit your canine family member. We urge you to take a moment and browse the following websites:

Puppy Nutrition
For optimum healthy joints in the large breed dog, never suppliment your puppy's diet with calcium. Research has documented that excess dietary calcium can negatively influence skeletal development in large breeds. Maintain a slow steady growth rate by feeding a "large breed puppy" food at scheduled times in the day, instead of feeding free choice.
Parasite Control
As a conscientious dog owner I used to, at regular intervals, apply commercial pesticides both externally, to control fleas and ticks, and internally to control worms. A couple years ago we started losing the battle with the bugs. The topical applications no longer seemed to kill the ticks and the fleas seem to thrive on the chemicals. I was really distressed to find that I was dumping increasing amounts of stronger chemicals into and on my dogs as a means to maintain their health and I was supposed to, according to the manufacturer, not let the liquid touch my skin. Hmm, there's something wrong with this scenario.
There had to be a better way, a healthier way, an economically more sensible way and a more environmentally friendly way to control the parasites. I found my answer one day when I stumbled across a website maintained by Wolf Creek Ranch. Eureka! I found what I had been looking for in Diatomaceous Earth (DE). We now feed our dogs DE as a wormer and sprinkle it in their outside quarters for flea and tick control as well as dust it through their coats for topical parasite control. Puppies are started on DE as soon as they start eating solid foods. I dust their beds with it and rub a light application through their coats. We couldn't be happier with the results! I hope you check out their website at: http://wolfcreekranch1.tripod.com/defaq.html
